Keynotes:
1. Doctors were divided into 4 groups:
• 29% said cardiology is supportive and welcoming and nothing needs to change.
• 33% said cardiology is supportive and welcoming, but some improvements are needed.
• 19% felt the field is difficult and not welcoming and are unsure what to fix.
• 18% felt the field is difficult, unfair and not welcoming and major changes are needed.
2. Problems experienced by doctors:
• 45% treated badly
• 23% faced unfair treatment (discrimination)
• 19% emotional or physical harassment
• 10% sexual harassment
3. Mental health:
• 24% burnout
• 25% depression symptoms
4. 70% said cardiology needs to be more welcoming and fair to all doctors.
5. The overall picture is concerning, not encouraging, showing that many cardiologists are working in a stressful and sometimes depressive environment.
