The first open-heart surgery for ASD in Jordan was performed at Amman Military Hospital on May 17, 1970.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">2. The first kidney transplant in Jordan was performed at Amman Military Hospital on May 24, 1972.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">3. The first coronary artery bypass grafting in 1973, noting that the first case in the world was conducted in 1967 (Jordan was the tenth country globally and the first in the third world).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">4. Vascular tumor surgeries in 1980.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">5. Coronary artery balloon angioplasty (PTCA) was performed on April 7, 1985, with the first coronary artery stent implantation in 1993.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">6. The first heart transplant in Jordan was performed at the Heart Center on August 9, 1985.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">7. Left internal carotid artery stent implantation on January 14, 1997.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">8. Non-surgical closure of congenital atrial septal defects using therapeutic catheterization on June 18, 1997, for the first time in the region and the fifth country globally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">9. On November 27, 1997, the Heart Center performed the first heart and lung transplant in Jordan and the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">10. On August 31, 1998, for the first time in the Arab world, three congenital heart disease surgeries were performed without surgery and broadcasted live via satellite to a medical conference in Boston, USA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">11. On October 1, 1999, subarachnoid hemorrhage treatment without surgery was conducted. This achievement advanced Jordan&#8217;s steps in this field, providing treatment at a lower cost and time than abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">12. On December 6, 1999, brain hemorrhage caused by arterial calcification or arteriovenous malformation was treated using catheterization without surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">13. On January 29, 2000, intracranial arterial stenosis was treated using catheterization and metal stents without surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">14. On October 30, 2000, a temporary vena cava filter was implanted to prevent pulmonary embolism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">15. Arterial aneurysm surgeries using therapeutic catheterization with arterial grafts and metal cylinders in 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">16. On October 6, 2010, a rare surgery was performed on a 9-day-old infant diagnosed prenatally to repair an aortic aneurysm in the main abdominal and pelvic arteries. This was the seventh case worldwide and the fourth using a synthetic graft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">17. Cochlear implant surgery in 2004.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">18. Liver transplant surgeries in 2004.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">19. The first stem cell transplant in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">19. The first Mitral Valve Clip procedure in Jordan was performed in 2017.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">20. The first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedure in Jordan was performed in 2009.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">21. Nowadays, various heart valve replacement procedures are performed via catheterization without surgery, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">1. TAVI or TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation\/Replacement) <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211; Aortic valve replacement via catheterization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">2. TMVR (Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement) <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211; Mitral valve replacement via catheterization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">3. TEER (Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair) <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211; Mitral or tricuspid valve repair via catheterization, where a clip is used to secure the valve edges together (such as the MitraClip procedure).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">4. TTVR (Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Replacement) <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211; Tricuspid valve replacement via catheterization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">5. TPVR (Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement) <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8211; Pulmonary valve replacement via catheterization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">These procedures are increasingly being used as alternatives to traditional surgeries and are considered less invasive, particularly for patients who may not tolerate major surgical interventions.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>.
