\u2022 Big picture: Despite past progress, cardiovascular outcomes are worsening in several areas, mainly due to aging, lifestyle factors, and system stress.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Hypertension:<\/span>
\n\u2022 ~1 in 3 patients are untreated.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Only ~2 out of 3 treated patients reach BP targets.<\/span>
\n\u2022 BP-related mortality has nearly doubled. \u2192 BP control remains a top priority in primary care.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Lipids (LDL-C):<\/span>
\n\u2022 Many patients with known ASCVD are still above LDL targets.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Statins and add-on therapies are underused.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Coronary disease & MI:<\/span>
\nProgress up to 2019 \u2014 then a clear reversal, with rising MI rates, particularly among adults aged 25\u201364.<\/span>

\n\u2022 Clear success story \u2014 smoking rates continue to fall.<\/span>
\nHeart Failure<\/span>
\n\u2022 Mortality declined until 2011, then reversed after 2011, with outcomes worsening in subsequent years.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Incidence remains high.<\/span>
\n\u2022 A significant proportion of eligible patients do not receive full guideline-directed therapy at target doses.<\/span>
\n\u2022 PAD & Stroke:<\/span>
\n\u2022 PAD is often missed and undertreated, with high amputation risk.<\/span>
\n\u2022 Stroke mortality down and care improved, but prevention gaps remain.<\/span><\/p>\n

Focus on early detection, aggressive risk-factor control, guideline-directed therapy, and equity in care \u2014 especially for BP, lipids, diabetes, obesity, and younger adults at rising risk.<\/span><\/p>\n
