Author: Hannah Murphy
      1. New study published in Magnetic Resonance Imaging explores why some patients retain more gadolinium after MRI scans.
2. Focuses on the role of oxalic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the body and food.
3. Oxalic acid may disrupt gadolinium contrast agents like Omniscan and Dotarem.
4. Lab tests showed it causes gadolinium to detach and form nanoparticles (gadolinium oxalate).
5. These nanoparticles may accumulate in organs, potentially causing chronic side effects.
6. Researchers urge future studies to consider gadolinium precipitation reactions when investigating unexplained post-MRI symptoms.
