Combined Mitral–Tricuspid TEER Using One Guide Catheter (STriC-TEER)

Combined Mitral–Tricuspid TEER Using One Guide Catheter (STriC-TEER)
Source: Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions -16 Nov. ,2025
Medical News: November 24, 2025
Key Points
1. New Technique:
Uses one TriClip steerable guide catheter (SGC)—originally designed for tricuspid TEER—to perform both MitraClip (mitral) and TriClip (tricuspid) repairs in the same session.
2. How It Works :
• Start MitraClip through the TriClip SGC in the left atrium.
• Withdraw the MitraClip system.
• Pull the same SGC back into the right atrium.
• Insert TriClip through the same SGC and complete T-TEER.
3. Study:
40 patients (mean age 76، treated in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia (2023–2025).
4. Performance:
• Success rates: 95% (mitral), 87.5% (tricuspid).
• Device times: ~47 min (mitral), ~53.5 min (tricuspid).
5. Benefits:
Safe, feasible, comparable to conventional dual-catheter TEER, and may reduce total procedural cost and catheter exchanges.
6. Safety Conclusion:
STriC-TEER appears safe and feasible with no increase in procedural risks — but requires experienced operators.
7. Next Steps:
Requires bench testing and prospective randomized trials to validate efficiency, outcomes, and cost-effectiveness.
