1. First U.S. deployment
• Siemens Healthineers rolled out its inaugural Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) in collaboration with UCLA Health in Southern California.
2. Somatom On.site CT scanner
• This head CT is integrated into the MSU to diagnose strokes on-site, significantly reducing time to treatment.
3. How it works
• When a 911 call indicates a possible stroke, the MSU and ambulance go to the patient.
• The CT scan is performed immediately, and images are sent in real time to a stroke specialist who guides treatment on the spot.
4. Why it matters
• Faster diagnosis leads to quicker treatment, improving survival and reducing long-term disability—research shows significantly better outcomes compared to conventional hospital-based care.
5. Smart, patient-focused design
• Features include AI-powered interface, precise head stabilization, and efficient workflow tools for CT technicians.
“Time is brain”—every minute saved in stroke care can save lives and improve recovery.
