EAS 2026 Highlights: During the ongoing EAS Congress 2026 in Athens
During the ongoing EAS Congress 2026 in Athens (May 24–27, 2026), the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) announced two major international consensus statements focusing on:
• Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) in children and adolescents
• Global standards and organization of multidisciplinary lipid clinics, supporting the evolving concept of Lipid Centers of Excellence (CoE)
Key messages include:
• Earlier diagnosis and treatment of inherited lipid disorders• Initiation of lipid-lowering therapy at younger ages even at 6 or earlier• Achievement of lower LDL-C treatment targets through the use of newer therapeutic modalities• Reduction of lifelong LDL-C exposure• Strengthening of registries, multidisciplinary care models
Notably, the EAS Lipid Clinic Network currently includes more than 500 lipid clinics across countries, reflecting an expanding international effort led by the EAS to establish organized lipid clinics network.
This strategic direction may create future opportunities for the structured development of lipid clinics and enhanced regional collaboration through initiatives led by the Jordan Cardiac Society (JCS) in partnership with the EAS.
